Digital Camera Basic Modes
In this session on using your digital camera, we will focus on helping you move from shooting in “Auto” to shooting with a controlled aperture (Av) or shutter speed (Tv), or both (M) if your camera permits.
Students to bring camera, manual if they have one, laptop with their software (if they have one). Be sure the camera has the fixed aperture and shutter speed capabilities.
We will start with a short talk on shooting in Av, Tv, and M modes, and “what is ISO”.
Students shoot a fixed subject with a background inside the classroom in Av mode, but varying the settings from large to small.
Students shoot outside at a moving subject at various Tv settings.
Students load the photos on their laptops, or on CC lab computers, and use PSE (or whatever they have) to look at them.
Discuss resulting student photos.
